Vlerick Business School Executive Education

Philippe Haspeslagh has a rich career history as researcher, teacher and international advisor in strategic management and governance.

Over the years, his research has spanned four key areas: corporate strategy and the strategic process in diversified firms, managing mergers and acquisitions, implementing value-based management and board effectiveness. A Harvard Business Review author, Philippe’s work on portfolio management and his book Making Acquisitions Work are classics in the field. He has won numerous awards for his research, books, teaching and case writing.

A leading academic, Philippe has taught at Harvard Business School, Stanford, INSEAD and Vlerick. At INSEAD, he supported merger processes, directed customised programmes and founded the International Directors Forum and the Strategic Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions programme. He has advised top management teams in Europe and Asia for more than 30 years.

Philippe is a seasoned board member and has held directorships and chairmanships at listed companies, large family businesses, private equity firms and asset management companies.

He graduated from Vlerick in 1973 – and came full circle when he returned as Dean in 2008.
