Peter D'Antonio

As a US financial economist for large New York City money center banks, I developed a deep understanding of the US economy and a broad-based skill set encompassing economic research, data forecasting, and quantitative analysis. I forecasted all major short term US indicators and provided the research underpinning Citi's economic outlook. I built and used a wide array of statistical and econometric models, most notably the Citi Financial Conditions Index (Citi FCI). This system helped me identify and analyze economic trends, anomalies, and risks.

I always looked for unconventional ways of breaking down the data to bring out new insights. My analyses (such as separating employment by economic function) often became new forecasting tools that I used on an ongoing basis. I wrote 1,000+ articles based on my analysis for internal publications and Citi's client website.

Citi's Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, and Equities salespeople, traders, strategists, and key clients, looked to me for guidance. By maintaining a desk on the trading floor, I kept current on important topics to clients, and communicated with them in meetings, conference calls, reports, and presentations.

I began my transition from finance to teaching by creating a course called Real World Analysis of Economic Data, based on my work experience, which I taught at the NYU Stern School of Business. I have now moved to teaching Economics full time at Molloy College with the goal of bringing real-world practical experience into the classroom for students who will need to have a working understanding of the economy in their business careers.
