Biography

IE Business School

Peter Bryant is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at IE Business School in Madrid. He began his academic career in Sydney 2007, after earning his Ph.D. in Management from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. During the preceding fifteen years, Peter worked as a manager in the airline, banking, consulting and venture capital industries, as well as at a software startup in Sydney, Australia. He subsequently managed the commercialization of new technologies through the creation of spinoff companies at the University of Sydney. In this role, he accomplished successful IPO and VC deals. As Peter says, “I’ve been fortunate to experience many of the strategic challenges that managers face, both in start-ups and large companies. And now I have the privilege of teaching and studying these topics.” In particular, Peter researches in the fields of entrepreneurial management and strategy, and their relationship to the dynamics of industrial change and the evolution of organizational capabilities. His research has been presented at some of the most prestigious conferences in the fields of strategy and management, and is published in the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Management Decision, Applied Psychology: An International review, Neuroscience and Neuroeconomics, as well as professional outlets such as the online editions of the Harvard Business Review and The Economist. Peter is also co-editing a large volume on organizations and management for Elsevier’s new International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
