Biography

UCL School of Management

Mihaela is Assistant Professor of Strategy at the UCL School of Management and her current research focuses on the links between formal structures, organizational learning, and adaptation. More broadly, she is interested in understanding how attributes of the organizational context shape learning outcomes, with an emphasis on the healthcare sector. Prior to joining UCL, Mihaela pursued a Ph.D. in Strategic and International Management from the London Business School and an MBA from Brigham Young University in United States.

Research

Mihaela’s work has appeared in Organization Science, was featured in the Financial Times and is under review in prestigious Management journals.  Her broad research focus is on the long-term organisational consequences of short-termism with a special interest in organisational learning and innovation.  One of her recent findings relates to the learning deficiencies caused by “selection at the gate” as an organisational practice (i.e. the attempts of organisations to improve the success rate of their output by selecting promising cases as input).
