Michelle Rogan is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and the Academic Director of the MSc in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management. She serves as an Associate Editor at Management Science and is on the editorial boards of Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal and Strategy Science.
Before joining Imperial College, Dr Rogan was a faculty member at UNC Kenan-Flagler and prior to that, INSEAD. Her research centres on how individual and firm social capital affects entrepreneurship and innovation. She is currently exploring the role of gender and networks in entrepreneurial entry and career mobility. In related work, she is investigating the strategic human capital and career implications of participation in corporate social impact projects. Previously, Dr. Rogan studied acquisitions of social capital – such as how firms use acquisitions of target firms to gain valuable inter-organisational relationships to customers, suppliers and other business partners in the advertising industry.
Dr Rogan’s research has been published in several top journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science and the Annual Review of Sociology. She teaches topics related to innovation management, corporate entrepreneurship and networks in Masters, MBA and Executive Education programmes.
