Biography

HEC Paris

Michel Roger has been an active member of the teaching team of HEC Executive MBA since 1978.

He currently is the Academic Coordinator for the Executive MBA in China.

From 1964 to 1979, Michel Roger held various positions with Norton, a US corporation, world leader in the abrasive industry. His last position with this company was Director of Marketing Europe. In 1980, he joined the Arjomari group, a French paper manufacturer, where he was Managing Director of Papeteries Canson & Montgolfier before becoming Chairman of the company.

In 1989, he was appointed CEO of Arjo Wiggins Speciality Papers (a € 1 billion annual revenues company). A UK public company which resulted from the merger of Arjomari and Wiggins Teape, Arjo Wiggins was, at that time, the 8th largest paper manufacturer in the world and the world leader in specialty papers.

In 2000, Michel Roger went on to pursue a consulting career in strategic management. Most of his assignments were in the field of merger and acquisitions. He also held positions as director in the boards of several companies to support the UK 3i private equity investments. From 2003 to 2006, he headed the Education Centre of the French Corporate Governance Institute (Institut Français des Administrateurs) which he helped set up.
Michel Roger holds an engineer degree as well as an HEC Executive MBA degree.
