Center for Creative Leadership

As Senior Faculty, Michael designs and develops leadership solutions to help clients with their toughest challenges. He is a facilitator, advisor, innovator, and researcher. Michael’s approach is to partner with clients, listen to understand their challenges, and design a solution that meets their unique needs. The leadership solutions he designs are based on proven science, are aligned with the client’s culture and strategy, and focused on helping leaders and teams successfully execute real work. It all begins with empathy and understanding that leading and managing are hard to do. The right kind of support goes a long way in achieving better results. Michael is based in Austin, Texas, and is part of a dynamic team of dedicated business partners, account managers, and project managers that together help individuals, teams, and organizations achieve greater performance.

Experience

Michael brings an applied research background to his over 10 years of experience designing and implementing leadership solutions. Some of the impact his clients have experienced include: the development of high potential leaders through a 9-month process that had them working together to launch and execute four large scale innovation initatives; accelerated on-boarding, development, and team performance of new consultants for a fast growing start-up company; and helping a large ($1.8 B) company achieve large scale development while closing gaps in their leadership pipeline through leadership programs targeting 3 levels (frontline, middle manager, and senior leader). Michael’s specialty is partnering with C-suite executives, working directly with senior executive teams to achieve higher levels of trust, candor, and collaboration resulting in improved performance and decision making. He helps clients sustain development efforts by supporting leader-led development, helping leaders become better developers of their people and ‘training the trainers’ on the latest content and facilitation techniques.

Michael is seen as a global citizen, having worked with clients across the world in China, India, Singapore, Canada, and the U.K. He has partnered with thought leaders from organizations such as the Human Capital Leadership Institute in Singapore, Michigan State University, Boston University, Claremont Graduate University, the Reina Trust Building Institute, the Leeds School of Business at C.U. Boulder, the Indian School of Business, and the Conference Board.

Michael is co-author of the industry & best practices report High-Impact Succession Management: Best Practices, Models, and Case Studies in Organizational Talent Mobility, as well as the guidebook Talent Conversations.
