Biography

Mélanie Riofrio Piché is the Chair of IASC. She is the Secretary General of the Madrid International Arbitration Center (MIAC). She has served as sole arbitrator and president in national and international commercial arbitrations.

She previously worked as an associate at international arbitration boutique Armesto & Asociados where she acted as secretary of tribunal in numerous commercial arbitration proceedings administered by ICC, PCA, DIAC, VIAC, as well as investment treaty arbitrations adjudicated under the UNCITRAL Rules and ICSID Rules. Mélanie has experience in many areas of international arbitration, including international sales and distribution contracts, construction, oil & gas, and electricity-related disputes.

Mélanie combines her practice with academic work by teaching at ESADE Business & Law School and IE Law School (Instituto de Empresa). Mélanie is fluent in French, Spanish and English.
