Biography
Said Business School
Marc Stears is Director of the Sydney Policy Lab at the University of Sydney and was previously Chief Executive Officer of the New Economics Foundation, a UK think tank focused on transformation in areas such as housing, financial systems, democracy and the environment.
Marc has held various lecturing roles during his career, most recently Professor in Political Theory at the University of Oxford. He has also served as a visiting fellow at the Institute of Public Policy Research. From 2012 to 2015, Marc was Chief Speechwriter to the Leader of the Opposition Party in the UK.
Marc has published his research on politics, philosophy and economics widely in many books and papers. He has also delivered lectures at universities across the world and is a regular commentator on national UK television and radio.
Marc holds a DPhil in Politics and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, both from the University of Oxford.
Teaching
Marc has worked as a leadership and workplace culture change consultant for many companies and non-governmental organisations across the world. He has also taught at the Cambridge Judge Business School and London Business School.
At Saïd Business School, he teaches on various programmes, including the Oxford Diploma in Global Business, the Oxford Diploma in Organisational Leadership and Coaching and Consulting for Change.
He also contributes to the Oxford Leading Professional Service Firms Programme, delivered online.
