Presentation

My new research project have the aim to comprehensive map philanthropic associations

influencing (and being influenced by) the continual conceptualization of philanthropy and

welfare from the middle of the 19th century until the present day contributing to a fuller and

more elaborated understanding of the role played by philanthropic organizations at the

crossroads of state, market and civil society.

To do this, I am in the process of developing a theoretical and methodological

interdisciplinary research strategy combining the conceptual history tradition (ad modum

Reinhardt Koselleck) with the sociology of translation (ad modum Bruno Latour)
