International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans
Mr. Berry is president of KB Berry & Assoc., Inc., a consulting firm specializing in cost-containment programs aimed at reducing medical and prescription drug costs. Prior to starting his own company, he was president of Associated Third Party Administrators (ATPA) and Accelera Health (ATPA’s cost-containment subsidiary), a $45M company with over 400 employees. Over the past 30 years, Mr. Berry has served as a third-party administrator (TPA), auditor, and consultant and has worked with over 100 employee benefit plans, fund managers, attorneys, benefit consultants, actuaries, trustees, bank custodians, service providers and investment managers relating to issues impacting the various plans. Prior to joining ATPA, he was vice president and benefits consultant with the Segal Company, where he was responsible for benefits consulting for health and welfare plans, defined benefit pension plans (ranging up to 20,000 participants) and defined contribution pension plans. Mr. Berry’s background also includes six years as a registered pharmacist (RPh), two years as an auditor with Ernst & Young, 11 years as an owner of a TPA (not including his time at ATPA), and an additional five years as an auditor, auditing Taft-Hartley trust funds with two different public accounting firms, the last being Miller Kaplan Arase & Company. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the California Society of CPAs and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Mr. Berry holds a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. degree in health services from Golden Gate University.
