Ms. Nicholson is the principal of J | N Consulting, where she provides various consulting services including facilitating discussions on board governance, strategic planning, benefit design, administration, operations and performance management to boards and executives of pension and health and welfare plans across the country. Most recently, Ms. Nicholson served as the chief executive officer of the Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans, overseeing approximately $8 billion in assets and a staff of 250 in the administration of retirement and health plan benefits for over 115,000 employees working in the entertainment industry. She previously served as the vice president of operations for the UFCW–Employers Benefit Plans of Northern California, LLC, an entity that oversees approximately $5 billion in assets and administers the retirement and health and welfare benefits for over 120,000 members. Prior to her position with the UFCW–Employers Benefit Plans, she served as the chief executive officer of Central Valley Trust, and she was an officer and consultant with William M. Mercer. Ms. Nicholson graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, with majors in finance and management and organizational behavior, and received her M.B.A. degree from the University of Denver. She is an inspirational speaker, a guest speaker and adjunct professor at William Jessup University and co-author of the book The Change 10—Insights Into Self-Empowerment. Ms. Nicholson is also a frequent speaker on topics of interest to board members and executives of benefit plans for organizations such as the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, the National Labor Alliance (NLA), the National Education Association (NEA), the California Teachers Association (CTA) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA). She is an instructor for the International Foundation Certificate of Achievement in Public Plan Policy (CAPPP®) certification program and is a former member of the International Foundation Actuaries/ Consultants Committee.
