Overview

I am working on an interdisciplinary PhD project based at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work as well as at the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester. The aim of the project is to explore how people with lung cancer use Web-based health information prior to diagnosis to appraise their symptoms, and whether this influences their decision to present to health services. I also work as a Teaching Assistant at the School of Psychological Sciences, and have taught on various courses including Statistics, Social Psychology and Health Psychology. Furthermore, I work as a Project Assistant at the Manchester Urban Collaboration on Health, Institute of Population Health.

Biography

I completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology at the Georg-August-Universityin Goettingen, Germany in October 2011, and my Masters in Health Psychology at the University of St Andrews in September 2013. My studies got me interested in the links between psychological and physical well-being, and in the potential of internet-based self-help interventions for improving health. Since 2013, I have been working on an MRC-funded PhD research project about the role of Web-based information in help-seeking of those worried about lung cancerTeaching Assistant for Foundations of Health Psychology, School of Psychology, University of Manchester (2016)
