Juergen Rilling

Jürgen is founder and managing director of Mirablau GmbH, based in Munich, Germany. Jürgen & Mirablau hold various private equity and VC investments in Europe. Jürgen currently serves on multiple company boards and advises entrepreneurs and their companies on business strategy.

In 2001, Jürgen set up a search fund in order to search for, acquire and operate a German Mittelstand business. In 2003, Jürgen & Mirablau partnered with Induc to acquire Grundig Business Systems GmbH, a leading producer of high-end audio processing solutions and EMS service provider. As CEOs, Jürgen and his partner managed the successful turnaround of the business. Prior to this, Jürgen worked in the optical industry at Rodenstock and in management consulting with Roland Berger. Jürgen holds a Master’s degree of engineering from Technical University Munich (TUM) and graduated from IESE Business School (MBA).

Jürgen is a serial search fund investor and an avid promoter of the Search Fund model & Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) as a means to provide SMEs with extraordinarily talented CEOs, sustainably solve company succession challenges and to preserve & create employment. As a mentor in Search Funds, Jürgen enjoys accompanying outstanding talents on their way to entrepreneurship and to become great CEOs.

Jürgen is a board member to the IESE Search Fund Center and a member of the organizing committee of the bi-annual International Search Fund Conference at IESE Business School in Barcelona & the IESE Search Fund Investor Day in Munich. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on ETA & Search Funds at leading business schools like INSEAD, LBS, IESE, Judge Cambridge and has lectured an entrepreneurship course at the Entrepreneurship Center of Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (LMU).
