At HMS as the Associate Dean for Medical Education Quality Improvement, he has taken on an increasingly central role in the assessment, evaluation and continuous improvement of many aspects of the MD curriculum, including serving as faculty leader of the Office of Educational Quality Improvement (OEQI). At BIDMC, he serves as Associate Chair and Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Faculty Affairs in the Department of OB-GYN.

As an HMS student, Dr. Dalrymple was in the inaugural class of the New Pathway curriculum. While at HMS, as a Mexican-American student, he was actively involved in the HMS Office of Recruitment and Retention (now the Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs), serving on the admissions committee and as an officer of the student chapter of the National Chicano Health Organization. He trained in OB-GYN at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and gynecologic oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Dalrymple's scholarly interests include women's health education, clinical and surgical skills training, professional identity formation, and assessment, and he publishes and speaks nationally in these areas.

Throughout his career, Dr. Dalrymple has served in a variety of academic and educational leadership roles, including clerkship and course director, vice-chair for education, director of curriculum affairs, director of clinical skills education, and division director. At HMS, in addition to his roles in the OEQI, he serves as faculty chair of the HMS LGBT Advisory Committee. On a national level, he has chaired the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Dalrymple has won numerous teaching awards at each of the schools where he has served on the faculty in both the University of Texas and University of California Health Systems, and most recently as Assistant Dean for Clinical Integration at the new Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas.
