Biography

Jacques Olivier is currently Dean of Faculty and Research.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.

His research interests range from international macroeconomics and growth theory (most recent publication: "Globalization and the Dynamics of Cultural Identity", in collaboration with Mathias Thoenig and Thierry Verdier in the Journal of International Economics) to capital markets (most recent publication: "The Dog that Did not Bark: Insider Trading and Crashes", in collaboration with José Marin in the Journal of Finance).

Jacques Olivier has taught at HEC Paris ever since 1996, except for a 2 years period where he was affiliated with the National University of Singapore. At HEC, he has taught courses on macroeconomics, growth theory, introduction to finance, financial markets and theory of arbitrage at undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. level. He received the Pierre Vernimmen HEC BNP Paribas teaching award in 1998. Jacques Olivier was chairman of the Finance and Economics Department at HEC Paris from 2003 to 2006 and was in charge of the HEC MS Finance (http://www.hec.fr/Masteres-Specialises/Programmes/International-Finance) from 2007 to 2015.
