Biography

Associate professor Lola Herrero is actually the scientific and academic director of "MS'c in Hospitality and Tourism Management" ESCP Europe (Madrid Campus). Since 2002 she is also lecturer in the Department of Business Economics in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). She obtained her PhD in Business Economics (Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid), has a Bachelor degree in "European Tourism Management" (University of Savoie, France) and a Master degree in "Quality Management" (Official Tourism School in Madrid). Her professional career has been in the business and tourism sector having worked (among others) as Head of Quality Department Barceló Viajes, senior consultant on various projects for the General Secretariat of Tourism (Spain), and as a partner-founder of two companies in the field of management consulting, and advice to MSMEs (Quality, Sustainability, Marketing, Strategic Planning). She has designed teaching resources and delivered training sessions in the field of sustainability, service quality, marketing and business organization for professionals in the tourism sector and other sectors for over 16 years. In the period 2006-2014 she combined teaching with the design, coordination, implementation and evaluation of projects in the field of development cooperation and responsible tourism -Sustainability MSMEs in the UC3M. Among others development projects and executed, the "Quality Program at the Tourist Service (PROCAPCA)" for Central America (AECID-SICA), the "Vocational Training and Sustainable Tourism (VTST)" Project, developed in Morocco, Namibia, Senegal, Bolivia and Nicaragua south-south-cooperation (EUROPAID-EU) or the Project "RED EURECA: Red Euro-Central to improve the sustainability and quality of MSMEs:" developed in Central America (Panamá, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras), France, Spain and Portugal (ALFA-EU Program). She also collaborates with the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) as a board member of the External Evaluation Committees of the Agency.
