A specialist of political parties and social movements in Latin America, Hélène Combes got her PhD in Political Science in 2004 from the Institut des hautes études de l''Amérique latine (IHEAL) at the Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris III University, for the dissertation From dissent politics to party fabric. The Case of the Party of Democratic Revolution in Mexico, 1989-2000. Between 2004 and 2006, she worked as a researcher at the Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne University for an EU-sponsored project led by the European University Institute, before joining the CNRS in 2006. She worked at the Center of Political Research (CRPS, Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne University) until 2010 and became affiliated with CERI in 2011. Since 2005, together with Julien Fretel, she I the coordinator of the study group on political parties and organizations (GEOPP) of the French Political Science Association.
