Biography

Helen McCormick graduated from The University of Manchester in 2006 with a BSc (Hons) 1st class in Design Management for Fashion Retailing. Having been awarded EPSRC DTA Studentship to complete a PhD Helens research focus turned to Online Retailing a growing and innovative area of fashion retailing. Her PhD was awarded in 2009 for the work “Analysing and Conceptualising the Online Fashion Shopping Environment”.

Helen is now a Senior Lecturer in E-retailing and The Director of Undergraduate Studies for Design and Fashion Business within the School of Materials.

Helen enjoys supervising research students and conducting research projects and new areas of interest are M-commerce and Multi-channel retail environments focusing on how new technologies are changing the retail environment in the UK and Globally.

Helen has worked in a number of retail establishments including Debenhams, River Island and Marks and Spencer. It was during her time at Marks and Spencer’s as a Visual Merchandiser that her passion for retail and environment design became apparent, which inspired both her UG and PG focus.
