Gillian Arathuzik works as a nutrition diabetes educator at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Gillian provides one-on-one counseling and teaches group classes on subjects such as basic and advanced carbohydrate counting, lipids, and obesity. Gillian designed the menus and meal plans for the Joslin Clinic’s medically based diabetes and obesity program, Why WAIT? (Weight Achievement Intensive Treatment), and serves as the lead dietitian for the program. In addition, Gillian is part of the pregnancy and diabetes program associated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Gillian has written an article for Time magazine and two articles for Walgreen’s magazine as well as having been interviewed for various articles on nutrition. Gillian appeared in multiple local commercials for the Joslin Diabetes Center. She has also presented at conferences including AADE, Annual Symposium on Advanced Diabetes for Endocrine Fellows, Harvard International Conference on the Practical Approaches to the Treatment of Obesity, and the Annual American Diabetes Association Post Graduate Course, and presented a poster for the American Dietetic Association annual meeting in 2006. Gillian received her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics at the University of Vermont and completed her dietetic internship at Indiana University Medical Center. Gillian is also certified in adult weight management through the American Dietetic Association.
