Biography

Germán López Espinosa is Professor of Accounting at Universidad de Navarra. He holds a joint appointment as Professor of Accounting and Control at IESE. He is also the Academic Director of the Master in Banking and Financial Regulation (UNAV) and of the Center for International Finance (IESE CIF).

He earned his B.Sc. in Statistics, his B.Sc. in Business Administration, and his Ph.D. at Universidad de Alicante. He has been academic fellow at IASB and visiting scholar at NYU’s Stern School of Business.

His areas of specialization include financial accounting, bank accounting and financial stability. His teaching concentration is financial, corporate/tax and bank accounting.

His research emphasizes the link between Banking, Finance and Accounting. His work has been published in a variety of journals, such as Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, Accounting Horizons, Journal of International Money and Finance, Financial Analysts Journal and European Financial Management.

He has acted as accounting expert witness in the Country’s High Court in CAM, BFA-Bankia and Pescanova cases, important transactions (Strategic Control of Türkiye Garanti Bankasi A. Ş. and Peugeot-Banque PSA Finance-Santander Consumer Finance investment agreement) and specific reports (Antonio Puig, Elecnor, Nutrexpa, Sol Meliá and Universidad de Navarra).
