Stanford Continuing Studies

Frieda K. Edgette is a global leadership coach and organizational strategist with a political consulting background. Drawing from 15 years of experience, Frieda has facilitated the development and implementation of more than 150 change initiatives in five continents and advised more than 2,000 emergent to veteran civic leaders at the highest levels through strategic changes aligned with long-term goals.

Her approach blends political intelligence, organizational behavior, social psychology, authentic leadership, neuroscience, mindfulness and elite athletics to evoke individual, team, organizational and social change for optimal health and performance. Her diverse portfolio includes consulting on major community public health campaigns in 25 states, facilitating large-scale organizational redesigns for some of the nation’s largest healthcare institutions, instructing leadership development workshops at the Pentagon and U.S. Air Force, training innovators in India and Turkey with the U.S. Embassy, and coaching numerous leaders, including C-Suite nonprofit, business and campaign operatives, U.S. secretaries and parliamentarians.

Believing in everyone’s responsibility to give back, Frieda was an adjunct professor at The George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management, teaching a course on stereotypes and politics, and instructs resilient leadership at Stanford Continuing Studies. She has appeared on Fox News, C-SPAN and SiriusXM POTUS, in Women’s Running, Roll Call, POLITICO and Women Rule, and has published in the Harvard Business Review, The Hill, GOVERNING, Mindful, US News & World Report, European Heart Journal and Campaigns & Elections on leadership, well-being and strategy. In 2018, Frieda founded Courage to Run, the nation’s first nonpartisan 5K run/walk and party celebrating women running for office while elevating being healthy to lead effectively. In its first, year, Courage to Runs happened in 25 states and is scaling.

Frieda is an International Coach Federation certified executive coach, in addition to being a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. She holds a Development Award in Group Facilitation from the Institute of Leadership and Management, a Resource Development Award in the Science of Happiness from the University of California, Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center and is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction from the University of California, San Francisco Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and compassion cultivation from Stanford University. Frieda has a Master of Science in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in History and Women, Culture and Development from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

She loves travelling (near and far) with her beloved husband Chris and Keeshond Velvet, dancing, dabbling in extreme sports, crossword puzzles and avocados

Frieda has published in the Harvard Business Review, GOVERNING, US News & World Report, Roll Call, POLITICO and Mindful, and has appeared on Fox News, Sirius POTUS, Womens Running and C-SPAN Washington Journal on issues of strategy and resilience for civic professionals. She is a Campaigns & Elections Reed Award winner for Best Professional Development Initiative for Courage to Run, the nation's premier running series and leadership community dedicated to celebrating women running for office (literally) and being healthy to lead effectively, and was named a 2020 Goldies All Star.

Frieda is a professional International Coach Federation coach, as well as a Co-Active Professional Certified Coach. She has a MSc in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

When not working hard on the change we can believe in, she is running half marathons solo, exploring with her husband and son, crossword puzzling or eating avocados.
