Biography

Harvard Graduate School of Design

Frank Apeseche has been creating, building and managing successful real estate enterprises for nearly three decades. As a faculty member of the Harvard Graduate School of Design, his areas of interest include real estate innovation, environmental sustainability, and enterprise leadership. Frank also serves as the Co-Director of Harvard’s Real Estate Academic Initiative; Co-Director of the GSD’s program in Real Estate and the Built Environment; and a core faculty member of GSD’s Advanced Management Development Program (AMDP).

In addition to his work at Harvard, Frank is Chairman of Amstar Advisers (a $3-billion global real estate, private equity investment firm), a Board member of Building Engines, Inc. (an enterprise software corporation servicing the commercial real estate industry), and a member/investor of Launchpad Venture Group (one of the largest Angel Investment firms in the United States).

Previously Frank was Chief Executive Officer of The Berkshire Group, the institutional parent of several public and private subsidiary real estate corporations. During his 26 years at Berkshire Frank completed the Initial Public Offerings of two multifamily REITS and two real estate healthcare enterprises; helped launch multiple private firms in the mortgage finance, hospitality, long term care, and multi housing industries; and sponsored fourteen discretionary real estate funds with over $7 billion of capitalization.

Frank formerly served on the Board of Directors of Lodging Capital Partners, Berkshire Realty Ventures, KBRO Linen Systems, Berkshire Property Advisors, Berkshire Mortgage Finance, Aspen Furniture, Surebridge Inc., SMS Modern Cleaning Services, and Berkshire Realty Holdings. He also functioned as an officer of two NYSE REITs and served as an expert witness to the U.S. Congress on matters of urbanization and housing. He received his B.A. from Cornell University and his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
