SDA Bocconi School of Management

Francesca Lecci is an Associate Professor of Practice in Government, Health and Not for Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management.

At SDA Bocconi, she is the Director of the Executive Master in Management of Healthcare and Social Organizations (EMMAS) and Program Director of one post experience specialization course (MAS - Management for Healthcare Organizations) and of many open and custom programs. She has conducted many research, education and consulting projects with businesses and public institutions operating in the healthcare, government and cultural sectors. Moreover, she has worked with the leading multinational clients operating in the pharmaceuticals, hospital and entertainment industries.

Her research activities focus on management accounting, performance management and corporate finance in healthcare and the public sector. Her current research addresses three main questions. The first is the impact of the use of performance measurement systems on the effectiveness of regional strategy execution in the healthcare sector and on the survival of performing arts organizations. The second relates to the role of management control systems in the change process in hospitals and organizations affected by the spending review. The third focuses on managing capacity costs as an efficiency driver in professional organizations.

She is the author of numerous books and articles on her topics of interest. Her works have been published in the International Journal of Public Administration, the Journal Of Management Control, Health Services Management Research, Mecosan and Economia & Management, among others. She is the Coordinator of a research area on Management and a member of the Executive Committee at CERGAS (Centre for Research on Health Care and Social Management) in the Government, Health and Not for Profit Division. In 2017Francesca was appointed Secretary General of the Italian Health Economics Association.

Francesca earned a degree in Management of Public Administrations at Università Bocconi and a Ph.D. in Management of Public Administrations from Università degli Studi di Parma. In 2018 she succesfully completed the International Teachers Program. She lives in Milan and she has a child.
