Harvard Medical School

Florence (Flo) Brown is a Senior Staff Physician at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Co-Director of the Joslin and BIDMC Diabetes in Pregnancy Program. She completed medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She trained in Endocrinology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. She participated in the American Diabetes Association’s Preexisting Diabetes in Pregnancy Guidelines Committee and was an editor and co-author of Managing Preexisting Diabetes and Pregnancy: Technical Reviews and Consensus recommendations. She is an author of the Joslin Pregnancy Guidelines. She sees general adult diabetes patients in her practice but her focus is on the management of gestational diabetes and preexisting diabetes in pregnancy where she enjoys making sense of the many controversies. A focus of her research is on factors that affect fetal growth and birth weight in offspring of women with type 1 diabetes.
