Elaine Rumboll

PROF ELAINE RUMBOLL

Elaine Rumboll is an adjunct senior lecturer at the UCT GSB. She founded and currently runs The Creative Leadership Consultancy. Passionate about developing more creative, agile organisations, she works with experiential learning and play to develop leaders. Rumboll considers herself a “Pracademic”, someone who is concerned both with rigour and pioneering thought but also with its practical application in the world of work.

She is a Master LEGO® Serious Play® practitioner, a teacher, a poet, a blues singer, a RPG gamer and a businesswoman passionate about learning, transformation and teaching. Previously she served as Director of UCT GSB Executive Education, and is the former chair of UCT GSB Women in Leadership.

Rumboll has held professorships at both Curtin Graduate School of Business (Australia) and Victoria University (Australia). She currently holds a Professorship in Play and a chair in Creative Leadership (Western Orthodox University). In 2017 Rumboll was named one of the 50 Changemakers advancing gender equality in South Africa and in 2018 as one of the global change makers advancing gender equality worldwide. She holds an MA (cum laude) in Comparative Literature and an MBA from Wits where her research report focused on Executive Coaching as a Leadership Development tool.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• MBA (WITS), Masters degree in Comparative Literature, Joint Honours Degree in English and Comparative Literature ,
• BA in English and Philosophy
