Prof.mr.dr. Hans de Bruijn is Professor of Public Administration at the university. He is in his research concerned with processes of so-called multi-stakeholder decision-making:. Many parties, sometimes with different perspectives on problems and solutions, which need one another and should nevertheless come to terms. Mediating can be regarded as one of the ways to shape this decision-making. Relevant publications in Dutch: Process Management (2nd Edition, Amsterdam 2002, along with Ernst Bruijn and Roel in 't Veld) and "Management in Networks - a multi-actor decision-making" (3rd edition in 2007, along with Ernst Bruijn).

The application of his research are often at the interface of the public and private sectors. Examples: economic subsidies, the role of regulators in utilities, regulation of complex environmental issues, enforcement. He performed many missions over governments in the last six months include the Ministries of Economic Affairs, Health, Culture and Science, and Transportation and the Municipality of The Hague. It can involve both the analysis of complex processes for the design of such processes. He was in the past involved in mediating processes, including between the Ministry of Education and Science and transportation (on public transport card for students) and between the packaging industry and civil society organizations (about the environmental impact of packaging).
