Dimitris Zissis

Background

Dimitris is a graduate of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens and he holds a M.Sc. in Statistics and Operations Research from the same Department and University. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Management Science and Technology at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). In his doctoral dissertation he tackled a core issue in Supply Chain Management, i.e. how the nodes of the chain could coordinate their decisions and reach consensus and near-optimality without resorting to binding contracts.

His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented in international conferences. Dimitris received a scholarship from the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens, as a reward for excellence in his master’s studies (1st in his class) and a Fellowship for his PhD studies from the MBA International (AUEB). Moreover, he has participated as a researcher in various Greek and EU funded research projects, while he has submitted lots of research proposals for public (Horizon 2020, LIFE+) and private (General Electric, OPAP-Greek Organization of Football Prognostics S.A.) funding.

During his studies he served as a teaching assistant for the courses ''Production and Operations Management'' and ''Enterprise Resource Planning Systems'' at undergraduate, Erasmus and MBA level programs of AUEB, achieving outstanding evaluations (4.68 out of 5). He is also proficient in using scientific (Matlab, R, ERP NAV, Latex, NVivo, Qualtrics), social computer applications, as required, and in developing the skills needed to process large amounts of data.

Current activities

Dimitris is a Senior Research Fellow in Supply Chain Modelling at the School of Management at Cranfield University. His research interests lie in the field of Game Theory, Decision Making, Modelling and its applications in Operations Management, especially in Supply Chain Management. Dimitris is also a theses supervisor in M.Sc. programme ‘Logistics and Supply Chain Management’ at Cranfield University. He acts as a referee for papers submitted to academic journals of relevant disciplines (such as the International Journal of Production Economics and the Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review). Furthermore, Dimitris is a member of the Operations Management and ERP Systems Center (OPeR) of the Management Science Laboratory.
