A laureate of the Chancellerie des Unversités de Paris and of the Université Paris II, Dany Cohen has been a professor of private law since 1985. After creating and directing the DESS program (diploma of advanced studies) in Distribution Law at the Université du Maine, the DJCE (diploma of higher studies in business law) at the Université de Cergy-Pontoise (1992), he taught at the Université Paris XIII, where he also directed the Institute of Legal Studies.
Since 2007, he has been a professor at Sciences Po, where he is the scientific director of the second-year students of the Master in Economic Law''s concentration Economic Litigation and Arbitration. He is also the scientific director of the conference series "Law and economics in civil cases" (LGDJ, 2009), organized by the Chaire Régulation of Sciences Po and the Court of Cassation.
He has also given conferences or courses at Fribourg (Switzerland), Beijing (Sino-European Law School), Urbino (Italy), Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre, Lausanne, Geneva, Ho Chi Minh City, Atlanta and Montreal. In 2002, the National Evaluation Committee conferred on him the responsibility to provide scientific expertise for the law schools of the universities Paris X-Nanterre, Nantes, Pau and Versailles-Saint-Quentin.
Lawyer of the Paris Bar, recording secretary at The Hague Conference on International Private Law from 1982 to 1985, he has also carried out various missions to different countries for the International Federation of Human Rights from 1992 to 2003.
