In 2001 I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BSc (Hons) in Criminology and Psychology and in 2004 graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with an MSc in Forensic Psychology. In 2009 I completed a PhD at the University of Manchester. The focus of the PhD was violence risk assessment and psychopathy with young people in custody.
I have worked as a researcher at the University of Manchester since 2003 and worked as a Research Assistant and Research Associate on a number of projects, investigating child development, emotion, psychopathy and forensic mental health. I was promoted to Research Fellow in 2014. In my current post I am the North West trial manager for Engager, a multi-site randomised controlled trial of the Engager intervention, for men with common mental health problems prior to and after release from prison.
