Biography

Casey Wang is the founder of multidisciplinary design practice, BLEND. Her professional practice and research primarily focus on architectural and urban design, and urban infrastructure. Projects that she has designed and delivered include Innovation Valley No.1, Innovation Valley No. 3, Dogness Headquarters, Dong Chen Huangqi Mountain Sports and Cultural Park, Dongguan Civic Center, and Architecture and Urbanism Exhibition – Urban Proposition in Housing for Dongguan. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Hong Kong and teaches Master of Urban Design in the Faculty of Architecture. Casey was an Adjunct Associate Professor in Bachelor of Social Science (Architectural Studies), Master of Science in Urban Design, and Urban Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2016 to 202, which jointly organized by the School of Architecture and Department of Geography and Resource Management. Casey was an Assistant Professor in the Master of Urban Design program at the Hong Kong University Faculty of Architecture from 2010 to 2014. She co-edited Villages in the City: A Guide to South China’s Informal Settlements (2014) and Factory Towns of South China: An Illustrated Guidebook (2012), and has lectured at various institutes in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Germany, and Bangladesh. She was an invited exhibitor at the 2011-2012 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/ Architecture. She is an active member of Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design.

Prior to founding BLEND, Casey worked in Shanghai from 2003 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007 while in Cambridge, MA., her research interests were in the Boston metropolitan area, transformation of the Tsinghua University Campus, the Detroit Music Experience Museum, and the Almere area in the Netherlands. In 2006, Casey participated in the Metropol Parasol Seville project at J. Mayer H. Architecture Design and Research in Berlin. From 2007 to 2009, she was part of Foster + Partners in London, working on projects including the Robert Gorden University in Aberdeen, the Birmingham Library, the Esentai residential complex in Kazakhstan, and the Yale School of Management. In late 2009, Casey returned to Asia and joined OMA Hong Kong, working with Rem Koolhaas on key projects including the complete design phases of the Taipei Performing Arts Center, Shenzhen Qianhai Port City, and the Tencent Beijing Headquarters. From 2013 to 2015, she was a Project Manager at Gensler responsible for projects in Zhuhai and Guangzhou, China, as well as developments across Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia.
