Biography

Heinz College

She currently teaches graduate-level courses in business communication, writing, and presentation skills. She also serves as an academic advisor and teaches on-line courses for students in the Information Technology distance-learning program. She serves as a member of the Simon Initiative Curriculum Committee for the development of technology-enhanced learning.

Formerly, Beth was a full-time professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Dayton. Her most recent research focuses on the application of dialogic ethics to devise practical strategies for corporations in communicating about corporate social responsibility initiatives. Beth received two top-paper awards from the National Communication Association for her research in rhetorical theory and semiotics. Her work has been published in the Atlantic Journal of Communication, and she is a recipient of Duquesne University’s Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Communication and Rhetorical Studies.

From 1996-2010, Beth served as President and CEO of Spotlight Performing Arts, Inc. in Pittsburgh and enjoys keeping in touch with her former dance and theater students who are now pursuing professional careers both within the U.S. and internationally.
