Bernd is an economist and a management scholar with a strong interest in innovation, entrepreneurship and higher education. Currently Bernd holds a professorship for innovation management and economics with the MCI Management Center Innsbruck, Austria, and he is the head of Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Bernd is also the academic director for the joint AMS-MCI Executive PhD Program.
Bernd’s work focuses on systems of innovation and entrepreneurship, on corporate innovation strategies, on entrepreneurship, innovation & failure and on innovation in higher education.
Bernd has authored, co-authored and edited numerous books and more than thirty scientific papers published in journals such as, Journal of Applied Economics, Research Policy, Regional Studies, Journal of Economic Geography, European Management Review, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Journal of Evolutionary Economics, Journal of Technology Transfer, Structural Change & Economic Dynamics.
As a speaker Bernd covers topics about innovation, success & failure, about entrepreneurship and about innovation and impact. In teaching and workshops Bernd inspires individuals and organizations to change for sustainable innovation success.
