Belinda Weir

Belinda has more than 30 years' experience as a director, coach, strategist and facilitator in health care settings, and across public, private and non-profit organisations in the UK.

Belinda is a Senior Fellow and Director of Leadership at the University of Birmingham Health Services Management Centre. She works also as an independent consultant and has led programmes for future directors of adult social care, the Cabinet Office Commissioning Academy, and the Better Care Together programme in Cumbria and Lancashire. Belinda was Chief Executive of a special needs housing association for eight years, and was deputy chair of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust for seven years.

Over the past 30 years she has worked with hundreds of public sector leaders to develop integrated approaches to care delivery as well as directing large-scale leadership programmes for board-level and senior leaders in public, private and voluntary sectors. Belinda directs the national programme for aspiring directors of public health, and co-directs senior leadership programmes, systems leadership programmes and evaluations of systems leadership effectiveness. She has been a learning set co-ordinator on the Nye Bevan programme and a cohort director on the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme.

For The King’s Fund, Belinda co-directs the Senior Clinical Leaders programme, and directed both the Leading Integrated System-Level Change programme for integrated leadership teams in partnership with AQuA and many successful leadership programmes in partnership with the North-West Leadership Academy, Health Education East of England, Macmillan and AQuA.

Between 2002 and 2007, Belinda was a university lecturer at the Open University Faculty of Health and Social Care. She has an MA in sociology from Edinburgh University, and an MBA from Manchester Business School. Belinda is a qualified MBTI practitioner, an executive coach and accredited in Firo-B and Prince 2.
