Harvard Medical School
Dr. Arun Ramappa is the Chief of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School and performed his surgical internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He completed his training at the Harvard Combined Orthopedics Residency Program (HCORP) where he was Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery at MGH. He has completed multiple fellowships including Orthopedic Trauma at MGH, the Edwin Cave Traveling Fellowship where he received advanced training in shoulder surgery in Switzerland and France, and in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the world renowed Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He is a Team Physician for the Boston Red Sox, Simmons College, and a consultant for Northeastern University athletics. He is a core member of HCORP and trains Harvard orthopedic residents and medical students. His research focus includes shoulder pitching injuries, rotator cuff disorders, ACL tears, and meniscal tears. He has extensive research experience and has earned the prestigious Excellence in Research Award as well as the O’Donohue Sports Injury Research Award from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
