Dr Arnaud Gasnier is Adjunct Teaching Fellow at UCL. 

With ~20-year experience in Intellectual Property (IP), he has practiced globally in various IP (patents, trademarks) departments and in various leading roles (Patent Attorney, Licensing Associate, Portfolio Manager, Associate General Counsel)  e.g. for Swatch, Philips, adidas and Dutch contract research organization TNO.

Arnaud has also academic affiliation. He has taught in universities since 1998 and developed innovative approaches to help understand and communicate about IP. In 2004-2008 he carried out a PhD research (sponsored by European Patent Office) on: how organizations manage IP today, how to measure their IP performance, and how to improve cooperation and decision-making on IP for higher results and impact. Arnaud is a regular speaker at international conferences. He is the author of “The Patenting Paradox”.

Further, Arnaud is an entrepreneur: since 2009 he is the founder and CEO of Patentopolis BV specialized in IP solutions and strategy consultancy. There, he built a team of ~10 IP professionals from different industries and a global network of partners. They provide practical training to companies, IP certification to individuals and consultancy for special projects like EU-funded projects. In 2016, for the second consecutive year, Patentopolis and Arnaud won awards for Best IP Management and Recognised Leader in Intellectual Asset Management.  In 2017 Arnaud entered the list of IAM Strategy 300 - The World’s Leading IP Strategists.

Arnaud holds a Master of Science in physics, a Master of IP law from a US law school, and an Executive MBA from London Business School. He is also a qualified European Patent Attorney.

Practical and creative thinker Arnaud enjoys working across borders. With a multidisciplinary mind-set he is interested in assisting established firms, SMEs and ventures with fostering value creation and capture with IP for long-term benefits and growth.
