Andrea Prud'homme

Background

Andrea M. Prud’homme is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Management Sciences and associate director in the Center for Operational Excellence. She joined Fisher in 2007 after serving as a teaching and research assistant at Michigan State University and an adjunct faculty member at Colorado State University.

Dr. Prud’homme is responsible for teaching in the Manufacturing Industry Immersion program, the upper division core Manufacturing Planning and Control course, as well as other courses in operations management. She also serves as faculty adviser for the Buckeye Operations Management Society. She has earned the Outstanding Student Organization Award and the Career Services Award from the university and both the Undergraduate Program Services Award and Teaching Award from Fisher.

She has been a member of APICS: The Association for Operations Management since 1987 and has earned certification as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integrated Resources Management (CIRM). Her service to APICS includes serving for six years on the CSCP Exam Committee, and most recently on the CPIM Detailed Scheduling and Planning Exam Committee. She also is a member of the APICS Foundation’s Knowledge Delivery Committee. In addition, she has participated in several APICS student case competitions as a case expert and as the faculty adviser to student teams.

She brings more than 15 years of corporate experience in worldwide supply chain management for companies such as HewlettPackard, Advanced Energy Industries and Valor Electronics. Her responsibilities included managing projects for operations in Europe, Hong Kong, China and Mexico.

BUSMGT 2322 Operations in Action

Designed to provide early business students exposure to the field of operations and supply chain management (OM/SCM). This course will use a blended method of education consisting of selfstudy of selected materials, inclass discussion, communications with a female mentor, and tours of operations at several selected organizations. Prereq: Open to all Fisher business students.

BUSMGT 3230 Introduction to Operations Management: Improving Competitiveness in Organizations

Introduction to operations and supply chain management to improve manufacturing and service organizations; analyzing, controlling and improving resources and processes to increase productivity, generate valueadded output and meet business goals. Prereq: Econ 2001.01 (200), 2002.01 (201); and Stat 1430 (133) or equivalent. Not open to students with credit for 3130 (430) or 630, or to students enrolled in UUSS, UExp or PreBSBAPR.

BUSMGT 4232 Operations Planning and Control

Review of a Planning and Control System. Theoretical frameworks and utilization of techniques to execute strategic and tactical goals to increase productivity and effectiveness of forecasting, scheduling, and inventory and capacity resources. Prereq: 2320 (330), 2321 (331), 3230 (630), and AcctMIS 2200 (211), 2300 (212); and BusMHR 2291 or 2292 (BusADM 499.01). Not open to students with credit for 732.

BUSMGT 7233 Strategic Global Sourcing

Focuses on major decisions related to global sourcing, starting with ownership (makebuy) and location (offshoreonshore). Among other topics, students explore fundamental tradeoffs in sourcing organization, such as centralizing or decentralizing. Prereq: MBA 6231 and 6232, and enrollment in MBA, WPMBA, or MBLE program. Not open to students with credit for 837.
