Stephen M. Ross School of Business

Amy Young is on the Business Communications faculty at the Ross School of Business and received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Professor Young teaches positive business communications at Ross and provides students with tangible communicative strategies to build and expand human capabilities and wellbeing within the organizational context.

Her research and scholarly work focuses on the beliefs and behaviors that enhance performance at the individual and organizational level. She has over 50 publications and commonly presents her research at conferences throughout the US and abroad. In her most recent book, Thinkbanking & Corporate Webbing, she explores the use of digital technology as a means of building employees’ connections to each other and a larger organizational purpose.

In addition to her work within the university, Young enjoys using science to identify practical solutions for companies and organizations. She is the co-creator of The BluePrint Assessment Tools designed to measure beliefs at the leadership, organizational, and individual level that are key for developing positive work environments. Based on the fields of positive psychology and organizational development, these tools are currently being used internationally to enhance employee wellbeing, organizational performance, and corporate value.

She has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies in the financial, manufacturing, consumer products, automotive, and health care industries and has consulted for companies such as Kellogg, Honeywell, PwC, Abbott Pharmaceuticals, UTC, AMEX, Unilever, and many others. Young is also a research advisor for the International Data Corporation (IDC) and The Pacific Institute (TPI).
