Biography

Abul Siddiky is an Honorary Specialty Registrar in Multi-organ Transplant and Retrieval Surgery and the NIHR Clinical Lecturer for Surgery in the North Western Deanery.  He is passionate about academic surgery and has developed an interest in stem cells and their potential uses in developing models of and therapies for renal failure, arteriovenous fistula maturation and as an alternative to solid organ transplantation.

 

Following graduation from the University of Sheffield Medical School and junior training in South Yorkshire, he entered run-through surgical specialty training in the Mersey Deanery in 2007 before transferring to the Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery in 2010, where he continued with further general surgical training.  He was appointed to the Academic Programme in Manchester in 2017, to complete his sub-specialty training in Academic Surgery and Transplantation.

 

He completed a Masters of Science in Stem Cells at the University of Bristol in 2011, which was followed by appointment to a MRC/CRUK Clinical Fellowship at the University of Oxford in 2012, with successful award of a DPhil in 2015.  He has just recently passed his fellowship exam for the Royal College of Surgeons and was awarded the FRCS in Transplantation Surgery.
