Abe Lowenthal es el primer Catedrático Robert F. Erburu de Ética, Globalización y Desarrollo en la Universidad del Sur de California, donde también es profesor de relaciones internacionales. Presidente fundador del Consejo del Pacífico sobre Política Internacional, Lowenthal es actualmente presidente emérito y miembro principal de dicha organización. Se le reconoce mundialmente como una de las principales autoridades en temas relacionados con América Latina.
