Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership

Zoë Arden, Fellow, CISL - Zoë had a career in communications before moving into sustainability and latterly focusing on sustainability storytelling and leadership. She supports change agents in business to build compelling narratives that drive action. Companies she has worked with include Accenture, AstraZeneca, Barclays, BBC, Google and Nestlé. She is convenor and head tutor of CISL’s online High Impact Leadership Course and has contributed to CISL reports including Building Leaders for Long-term Business Performance and Rewiring Leadership. She has recently been published in the journal Organisation and Environment. The article entitled Making It Personal is based on her Masters’ research which looked at the impact of experiential learning programmes on business leaders’ attitude to sustainability.

Biography

She is an associate of SustainAbility and was a director in their London office where she specialized in stakeholder engagement and led research initiatives including how to embed purpose into business. Previously, Zoë was a director at BT Retail where she spearheaded the sustainability strategy and was the CEO’s representative on the pan-BT Environment and Climate Change Taskforce. Prior to that, she was managing director of firms Golin and Weber Shandwick. She is on the board of environmental charities Hubbub which focuses on behaviour change and BioRegional which created the One Planet Living framework. She has a Masters in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge.
