The Kets de Vries Institute

In addition to her work with the Kets de Vries Institute, Martine van den Poel develops leadership programs and does executive coaching for leadership development in various INSEAD programs (e.g. Advanced Management Program, International Executive Program, Leadership Transition and Women leading Change, programs for Daimler, SAP, Pfizer, HSBC etc.) and privately for a number of global companies.

Martine was the Associate Dean for External Relations at INSEAD from January 2001 until September 2003, managing the departments of Development, Communication and Alumni. From 1995 until 2000, she was Director of Executive Education and Assistant Dean, in charge of the Executive Education activities at INSEAD. With a team of fifty she managed INSEAD’s 50 million euro portfolio of public and customized programs per year, with a total of 5,500 executive education participants on both campuses. She was on the INSEAD Executive Committee between 1995 and 2003.

Between 1992 and 1995 she was the Director of Company Specific Programs within the Executive Education Department. From 1990 to 1992 she was Director for Development for Benelux and Switzerland, and from 1988 to 1990 she was INSEAD’s Director of Corporate Relations. She has also been a Research Associate at INSEAD, the Harvard Business School, and the Stanford Business School and was a management consultant with Telesis from 1982 to 1984.

Martine received a Masters degree in Coaching and Consulting for Change from HEC in 2003, as well the Diploma for Coaching and Consulting for Change from INSEAD. She also attended the Leadership Development Program and the Coaching for Development program at the Centre for Creative Leadership in Brussels. She did her Masters in Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (1977), and graduated in Political and Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium (1973). She speaks English, Dutch and French.
