Yutaka is Associate Professor at Kyoto University, Graduate School of Management. Prior to joining GSM in September 2010, he was a researcher at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), a Xerox Company. He obtained Masters and Bachelors degrees in Computer Science from Kyoto University and Ph.D. in Management from UCLA Anderson School. 
 

Building on ethnomethodology and practice theory, Yutaka studies work practices and interactions. Specifically, he has studied knowledge sharing interactions, design and use of complex technologies, and product development organizations and is currently studying service encounters. He is examining customer-provider interactions at authentic Japanese bars, sushi bars in Tokyo, fastfood/hamburger restaurants, Italian and French restaurants, dry cleaners, and medical consultation.
