Biography

Dr. Yun “Sherry” WANG is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy (PEP) at Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP). She currently leads the Patient Safety Lab. Before joining Chapman, she worked in the fields of global health, epidemiology, social science, clinical pharmacy, health economics, and health service research in Asia, Australia, and America. She is also an Alumni Affiliates at the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity, Washington University in St Louis.

Her research interests lie in pharmacoepidemiology and health service research for substance users and chronic disease patients. Her lab investigates California’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) from 10-year real-world data of the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) database, medication-assisted treatments, and opioid prescribing before and after Covid-19 in California, real-world evidence for personalized medicine for cardiovascular diseases, and the health disparity in Covid-19 exposure risks and treatment outcomes. These projects bring together more than ten faculty and students and are led by herself and her collaborators in and out of Chapman.

Sherry has published peer-reviewed articles in JAMA, Lancet, Clinical Infectious Disease, International Journal of Cardiology, The pharmacogenomics journal, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, Pain reports, Neuroepidemiology, etc. She served as Editor for the Special Issue "Opioid Epidemic during the COVID-19 Pandemic" of the journal Healthcare. Her research was highlighted in ISPOR News Across Asia and the COVID newsletter by the Washington State Department of Health.

Her recent Ph. D. student received the 2022 James L. Doti Outstanding Graduate Student Award, the highest honor for graduate students at Chapman University. She is open to working with Ph.D. students, postdocs, and visiting scholars.
