Graduated from Ecole supérieure de commerce de Poitiers (1994) and Doctor of Management Science from the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises de Poitiers (2006), Xavier DURAND teaches corporate finance as well as management control in ESSCA Integrated Master in Management and IUT, and in Executive Education programs (ESSCA, CNAM).

His research interests lie in the role of the management controller, the evolution and scope of the finance function in companies and the optimization of the business plan.

Editorial adviser at DUNOD - he supervised the writing and publication of three books in Accounting, Management Control and Finance, published in the OPENBOOK collection - he is also Directeur de collection (DSCG) at EYROLLES (six books in preparation for the DSCG: Law, Finance, Management Control, Accounting and Audit, Information Systems and Economics).

Author of several articles in professional or academic journals, he is also author or co-author of several books or textbooks: “The fundamentals of management control” (2009), “Réaliser son business plan en 48h” (2011 reissued in 2015) , “Management and management control” (2012), “Management control” (2014), “Financial mathematics” (2016) or “The 60 diagrams of accounting” (to appear).

He has been a very active member of the DFCG (National Association of CFOs and Controllers) since 1999 and sits on the Bureau of Management Control and the Scientific Council. Member of the jury for the best thesis in management control, he has been contributing since 2011 to the work of the International Observatory on Management Control. Finally, he served as Vice President of the Brittany - Pays de Loire Region of the DFCG between 2009 and 2016.

Head of the Finance Department at ESSCA (between 2009 and 2016), he headed the ESSCA Campus in Aix-en-Provence for two years (2016-2018) before being appointed Director of Recruitment and Admissionsin 2019 and Director of Angers campus in 2020.
