Research

Winston Lin's current research interests are in the areas of production and operations management, information systems, multinational finance, and business forecasting and predictive analytics. He has published nearly 100 articles in refereed proceedings and leading professional and academic journals. He has received numerous significant research grants and awards, including the Best Paper Award from the Multinational Finance Society (2001) and an Excellent Scholar/Sustained Achievement Award from The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (2004). He received the Best Interdisciplinary Paper Award at the 44th National Conference of the Decision Sciences Institute in 2013, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a recipient of honorable mention for the 2015 Institute for Supply Management Best Paper Award at the 75th Academy of Management Annual Meeting, in Vancouver, Canada, with a certificate and a cash prize.

International Activities

Lin has advised, consulted and lectured in China and taught International Financial Management in the China MBA Program. He has given many speeches in foreign countries and presented numerous papers at foreign universities and at international conferences.

Grants

Lin was awarded a three-year, $100,000 grant and a two-year, $94,000 grant (co-sponsored by National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan) from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange (USA) for his research. He has earned additional grants from the Pacific Cultural Foundation, New York State Health Research Council, National Science Council (Taiwan), National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education (Taiwan) and National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan). In addition, Lin has received Faculty Summer Research Awards in the amount of $71,200 from the UB School of Management's Research Committee over the years of 1997, 2000, and 2004 to 2015.
