Summary of Experience

Dr. Tan is an expert in antitrust and competition policy, intellectual property rights, and econometric analysis. He has extensive experience analyzing matters for a broad spectrum of industries, including insurance, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, microprocessors, chemicals, shipping, and computer equipment. Dr. Tan has conducted research, prepared expert reports, and presented his research before a number of regulatory authorities around the world. These include Chinese antitrust enforcement agencies such as the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC), as well as the US Federal Trade Commission.

Prior to founding Mingde Economic Research Inc., Dr. Tan was a vice president and an academic affiliate, respectively, at two global economics consulting firms. Dr. Tan is also an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, and has previously held several academic positions, including as the chair of the Economics Department at Hanqing Advanced Institute of Economics and Finance at Renmin University of China. He has taught courses in economics and econometrics at Johns Hopkins University, Renmin University of China, and State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Tan's research has been published in a number of peer-reviewed international journals, and he is an associate editor of the China Antitrust Law Journal.
