Nanyang Technological University
Professor Chia Wai Mun is Associate Professor of Economics at the School of Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University. Her research focuses on macroeconomics, in particular international macroeconomics and international finance. She also works on cost-benefit analysis. She holds a PhD from Nanyang Technological University, a MSc from London School of Economics and Political Science and a BSc from University of London, all in economics.
Wai Mun was a CBA consultant to various government agencies including National Environment Agency (NEA), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), Singapore Policy Force (SPF), Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Land Transport Authority (LTA). She was also a consultant to ASEAN Secretariat 2008-2011.
Wai Mun currently serves as the Director of the MSc in Applied Economics (MSAE) at the School of Social Sciences. Earlier she was the Acting Head of Economics at the School.
Wai Mun is an associate editor to the Singapore Economic Review. She is also the Treasurer of the Economic Society of Singapore and Singapore Economic Review since 2017.
In 2021, Wai Mun received the Nanyang Education Award from Nanyang Technological University. She was awarded the Singapore National Day Commendation Award for her contributions in teaching and research in 2011. She was also awarded various other teaching awards including the MSAE Best Instructor Award, the Koh Boon Hwee Scholar Award and the University Scholar Award.
