Stephen M. Ross School of Business
Valerie Myers joined the University of Michigan faculty in 2003, where she teaches graduate courses in organizational behavior, including diversity management and healthcare management. In addition, Dr. Myers is a scholar-practitioner with two intersecting streams of research related to employee engagement. The first focuses on meaning, motivation and work ethics, which she explores in her new book “Conversations About Calling: Advancing Management Perspectives” (Routledge Press). In it, Myers elucidates the transcendent meaning of work as a calling and its profoundly positive implications for leaders, individuals, organizations and society. The second relates to diversity, and how leadership, relationships and the work climate influence performance. Dr. Myers’ research informs her consulting practice with public and private sector organizations. Prior to academia, Myers worked in the automotive industry in management, marketing and product development.
