Executive School of Management, Technology and Law
Ulrich Haltern studied law at the Universities of Bochum, Geneva, Yale and Harvard, and holds a Master of Laws degree from the Yale Law School. He holds the Chair of German and Foreign Public Law, European Union Law and International Law at Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, and is the director of the Institute for Public Law, Section European Union Law and International Law there.
Professor Haltern has held numerous Visiting Professorships and was a Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study in Bonn (2010-11) and at the Institute for Advanced Study (Wissenschaftskolleg) at Berlin (2012-13). Since 2015, he is also the Inaugural Martin-Flynn Global Law Professor at the University of Connecticut Law School. He has written extensively on European Union law, international law, and legal philosophy.
His book “Obamas politischer Körper” reached the German top ten list of best non-fiction books in 2009.
